A photographer/lomographer’s bag is very much like a fingerprint, in that no 2 are (packed) alike. With the different type of film available, different bags, cameras etc. It’s hard to find someone with the exact same bag contents as you. I decided to document (poorly with my lousy iPhone 2G camera) what I usually carry around on a day walking about shooting street. Ok i’m no Chris Weeks so you’re not going to see M9 prototypes or 35/1.4 Summilux’s in my bag =)

Breakdown and backstory after the jump
I recently acquired this bag as a lightweight street bag from TCW in Peninsular Plaza. I was always looking at the Domke F803, but when I learned that it cost S$238 I was disheartened. I rememebered someone saying that the China copies were pretty good, and hence, the Safrotto CF700 was obtained for $75.
On the right of that are 2 things I never leave home without, my VW wallet I got in HK (@arienvalo has a different coloured one) and my coin pouch. Also has my EZ-Link in it so it would be hard to get around without it!
Next depending on the nature of the day, if it is relaxed, then I’d probably have my PSP Slim with me. I’m playing Jeanne D’Arc & Metal Slug Anthologies at the moment… Not bad for killing time on bus journeys or while waiting for @5quirt or @arienvalo.
We’ll go thru the less techy gear first. My Moleskine notebook, which I have strange ideas written down here, most of HOTG was jotted in this notebook. I prefer blank paper to lined. Just how I am =)
The last of my non camera stuff is the green Domokun my part of the HOTG mascots.
Ok down to the gear.
My secondary camera in the bag is my Yashica Electro 35 GSN. I probably wouldn’t call it a secondary camera, more like I shoot my colour stuff on it, if B&W is loaded on my other camera. I use a Crumpler Industry Disgrace strap, even though I don’t really like Crumpler, I got to say that this strap is one of the most comfortable for long days walking the streets, especially at how heavy the GSN is =) I absolutely love the shutter of the GSN because of how quiet it is, can’t really beat a leaf shutter in that, well unless you are talking Leica of course.
My primary camera that I shoot majority of my street stuff with is my Voigtlander Bessa R3A and until I can afford either a 50-Lux or 50-Cron (I.e. Never) or even a 21/4 or 15/4.5 from Chiif, I’m shooting a Voigtlander Nokton 40/1.4 S.C with a LH-6 Lens hood. For the lens i’ve got 2 Hoya filters, a standard UV one which Chiif says I should use instead of a lenscap and an Orange one for my B&W stuff. It’s a great camera for shooting street, nice and light with a x1 viewfinder magnification which means I can keep both eyes open when shooting. I am looking to at an Artisan & Artist ACAM-103 strap in white. Yeah yeah I know it gets dirty easily… But thats the point =)
I also carry a AP blower and lens cloths (one from my macbook pro… LOL) in the bag just in case.
Down to film choice. In the bag at this time are rolls of Ilford Delta 400, Ilford HP5+ 400, Ilford Delta 100 for B&W and Kodak Portra 160 and 400VC for colour. I favour the Ilford films for B&W especially the Deltas because of the fine grain and results I get from shooting them. When shooting street I tend to stick to B&W, the colour film is there just in case. Better to have and not need huh? I really with I could get more of the Portra NC version of the film, but no where in Singapore stocks it. Pfft.
So that’s it from my bag, what’s in yours?
