Collaborations and upcoming activities
HOTG has been invited by our friends at Kichn to participate in their showcase! It’s really exciting, and we’re keen on producing some interesting stuff for this.
However, work responsibilities might cause a bit of a sticky situation. Hoping for the best for now!
On a happier note, 1/2 of HOTG will be going out with a bunch of LOMOTION folks on a walkabout this Saturday. We have...

RFiends (by @arienvalo)
Remember the post on my first-time using of a rangefinder? So to leap from n00b to hanging out with the boys, @luc_sohow & myself went on a walkabout in Joo Chiat with some RF-ers from ClubSnap forums.
Of course there were beautiful Rangefinders and even the most desirable medium format darlings. Awe points aside, I shot through half a roll of Ektar 100 on the Yashica Electro 35 GSN. The...

Fairgrounds make me think of...
Good day!
The month of February was a good one for Chinese all over the world since it was the Chinese New Year. Celebrations here in Singapore seemed a little quieter to me this year but someone decided to set up an old school fairground as part of the celebrations that we call the River Hongbao.
Inspired by the many other fairground pictures available online, I set out to make my own!
Shot...

every picture has a story to tell. (by @arienvalo)

“Even though we’re not related, but I call her ‘Ah Ma’ and have been doing so for the past 5 years or so. She sells random items on the streets of Orchard Road for some spending money. She lives alone, with no immediate family. She spends the rest of her time at the temple near where she lives. And her arthritis is so bad that her...

A treasure hunt? Surely not!
Here at HOTG, we get very bored. We shoot a lot of film and we thought, instead of throwing away those poor film canisters lets viralize HOTG all around Singapore! So as of now, there are 5 in the wild. The locations will not be disclosed, but you can try to identify where they are via the pictures below. There will be more where we go shooting. So if you find one, please do whatever you want with...

Happy Valentine's Day
_chaton suggested that we have a photo post dedicated to Valentine’s Day and while we’re all busy with Chinese New Year, this would have to wait till next week.
If you have something you’d like to share with us, please send it! We’ll post it up in the coming weeks. Remember to include your photo stream account (i.e. tumblr,Flickr, etc), with your name and...

RF virgin...no more! (by @arienvalo)
I’ve been shooting toy cameras and my SLR since I started shooting some months ago. I had grown accustomed to the Minolta X-700 and that’s only after shooting more than 10 rolls through it (minimally)!
So on one occasion, @luc_sohow who is a Rangefinder evangelist as much as he is a Leica advocate, urged me to try shooting with his Yashica Electro 35 GSN. He had recently acquired a...

Whats in my bag? (@arienvalo)
I finally got around to getting my very first camera bag, and I must admit it’s a bit of an indulgence. It has been a trying couple of months lugging around my precious SLR and toy cams in my slingbag / tote bag and putting every little thing in individual, padded pouches. But anyhoo, here are the things in my camera bag.
So here you go. My very first camera bag is a much lusted-after...

Whats in my bag? - Street Bag (@luc_sohow)
A photographer/lomographer’s bag is very much like a fingerprint, in that no 2 are (packed) alike. With the different type of film available, different bags, cameras etc. It’s hard to find someone with the exact same bag contents as you. I decided to document (poorly with my lousy iPhone 2G camera) what I usually carry around on a day walking about shooting street. Ok i’m no...

arienvalo on.....Lomography
Hullo. If you’re reading this, you’re probably curious about what Lomography is about, or you are already part of this phenomenal existence and wants to know if I’m getting it ‘right’.
Ironically, if you belong to the latter group of readers, there wouldn’t be a need to see if I’m right or wrong about Lomography, simply because there isn’t a...
